Every Bite goes digital - join us online!

Are you interested in simple, effective ways to cut down on waste at home? If so, the Every Bite online programme, facilitated by sustainability coach Nicola Turner from Mainstream Green, is the perfect opportunity to make a real difference, both in your home and for the planet.

This free, interactive programme runs for four weeks, and helps you rethink how to shop, store, and cook your food to minimise waste. Try our practical kai waste prevention tools, and experiment with your household to see what works best. Through practical tips and expert advice, Nicola will support you to make small changes that become lifelong habits.

Now in its second year, the Every Bite programme will be offered in-person through Hubs in Northland, Auckland, Coromandel/Hauraki, Gisborne, Hawke’s Bay, and Wānaka. In addition, we are offering this online option in 2025 for the first time, opening up the option for anyone outside of these areas to also take part.

‘I’m so excited to help bring the Every Bite programme online in 2025 — it means we can reach more households than ever before,’ says Nicola. ‘This programme isn’t about perfection; it’s about progress. Together, we’ll find simple, effective ways to waste less, save more, and make a difference.’

Nicola will support participants through the four weeks via regular emails and weekly digital conversations on a Tuesday evening, offering the opportunity to ask questions, discuss challenges and celebrate wins. Suggested activities are self-paced, and can fit into the time available. The inaugural programme, starting February 3rd, will have a limited number of places, with more becoming available for May once the pilot is complete.

‘We’re really excited to  work with Nicola this year as she brings awesome experience to the table,’ said Every Bite Project Manager Rachel Glasier. ‘It can be hard to look for ways to reduce our food waste but Nicola makes this fun and inspiring.’
